Welcome to Reno Tahoe Cycling
August 15-16 2013 A Benefit for the Tahoe Pyramid Bikeway
Meet and Ride with Tour de France Champion Andy Schleck and Cycling Legends Jens Voigt and Frank Schleck, Thursday, August 15th and Friday, August 16th. Renowned International Athletes Training in Reno Tahoe to Ride with Community in Support of the Tahoe-Pyramid Bikeway and Tour de Nez.
Andy Schleck is a Luxembourgish professional road bicycle racer for UCI Pro Tour team RadioShack-Leopard-Trek and is the 2010 Tour de France Champion and runner-up at the Tour twice.
Jens Voigt is a German professional road bicycle racer for UCI ProTeam RadioShack-Leopard-Trek and was the oldest competitor at the 2013 Tour de France at age 41. No matter the country, no matter the age group, most people would be hard pressed to think of a more popular rider than Jens Voigt.
Frank Schleck, older brother of Andy, is a Luxembourgish professional road bicycle racer with a long career of podiums and accomplishments and best known for his winning the mountain stage in the 2006 Tour de France which finished on the Alpe d’Huez.
Edible Pedal 100™, a charitable road bike ride, offers something for every rider. Cyclists and families seeking a taste of an organized ride will relish the leisurely 10-mile route through picturesque Washoe Valley. Those interested in a respectable (some climbing) ride will like the 50-mile loop, which includes a trek along bucolic country drives and through rustic towns. Serious roadies ready for a solid challenge will be thrilled with the 100-mile ride, which features a lung-searing, thigh-burning, climb up Kingsbury Grade from Carson Valley to Lake Tahoe.
The Sierra Valley is a short drive from Reno and is one of the most picturesque landscapes in the area. The Reno Cycling Club is working with The Sierra Schools Foundation to host a truly unique cycling event. The inaugural Sierra Valley Gran Fondo will raise funds to help the children in the rural communities surrounding the Sierra Valley.
